Review:
This book got me out from my reading slump. And one thing I can say about this book is CRAZYYY. I like how the writer is so frontal and brutal in her writing. This kind of genre is definitely my favorite. I like the fast pace and all the characters. I can agree Yin Nezha is an attractive character but Altan is on different level. And Fang Runin is soooo freaking cool and INSANE. I like how determined she is at everything. She’s gonna be my favorite FMC in fantasy world.
The story is sooo neat. It started from where Rin wanted to get accepted by Sinegard Academy. However Rin’s struggle after being the Sinegard student was not over and her struggle became harder after the Federation attack.
My favorite part is when Rin being part of peculiar team a.k.a the Cike Division. I like all the peculiar characters in this division especially the commander—Altan Trengsin. The story became sooo intense (and traumatic) after the half book. I like the way author described Rin’s struggle to summon pheonix power. Altan’s relentless effort to be the young commander is described very intense.
And anyway, this book talks a lot about opium and somehow this book reminds me of a novel called Maharani by Pearl S. Buck.
And the ending makes me CURIOUS to read the second book. /I think I should check out the second book after this.
My favorite scene would be the time when Altan trained Rin to summon pheonix power. And when Rin and Altan realized they were one because of their Speer ancestors.
To sum up, I LIKEEEE THIS BOOK because this book is CRAZY and BRUTAL and I want to talk a lot about this book but probably I would only give you spoilers. YOU SHOULD READ THIS BOOK ONCE IN A LIFETIME. I’ll give 5/5 stars for this book!
